CAN PDR FIX DENTS ON A BODY LINE OR CREASE?

A body line is a deliberate crease designers add to a panel for style and structural rigidity — and it happens to be one of the harder places on a car to repair a dent. That doesn't mean it's impossible; it means it takes more skill and a different approach than a flat-panel dent.

Why Body Lines Are Harder to Fix

Flat panel dents can be worked from a wide area, spreading pressure gradually as the metal returns to shape. A dent that crosses or sits on a body line has to preserve that crisp factory line while still massaging the metal flat — push too far in the wrong spot and you can blur the line or create a new low spot next to it.

What Determines Whether It's Fixable

The same basic rule applies as any PDR job: if the paint is intact, it's usually fixable. Beyond that, the dent's exact position relative to the line, how sharp the crease is, and how much access the technician has to the back of the panel all affect difficulty and repair time. Some body line dents that look severe from the driver's seat turn out to be very workable; others that look minor turn out to require extra time because of exactly where they sit.
