When Your Paint Needs Correction
If your paint looks dull in direct sunlight, shows spider-web swirl marks under bright light, or has visible scratches and water spots — it's time for paint correction. Even newer vehicles often have defects from dealer prep and automatic car washes.
Paint correction is also the essential first step before applying ceramic coating or paint protection film. Without correcting the surface first, you'd be locking in existing imperfections under the coating.
Understanding Correction Levels
1-Stage Correction: A single polishing step that removes light swirl marks and enhances gloss. Best for newer vehicles or well-maintained paint with minor defects. Takes 4–6 hours.
2-Stage Correction: Compounding followed by polishing. Removes moderate swirl marks, scratches, and water spots. The most common level for daily drivers. Takes 8–12 hours.
3-Stage (Full) Correction: Heavy compounding, polishing, and a finishing pass. Removes severe defects, heavy oxidation, and deep scratches. Restores neglected paint to better-than-new condition. Takes 1–2 days.
