Types of Paint Protection Film
Not all PPF is created equal. At Pro PDR, we exclusively use XPEL and 3M films — the two most trusted names in the industry. Both offer exceptional clarity, self-healing properties, and long-term durability that cheaper alternatives simply cannot match.
XPEL Ultimate Plus features the most advanced self-healing clear coat on the market. Minor scratches and swirl marks disappear on their own with exposure to heat — whether from the sun, warm water, or a heat gun. The film is virtually invisible once installed and comes with a 10-year manufacturer warranty.
3M Scotchgard Pro Series offers similar protection with a slightly different feel and finish. Both films block 99%+ of UV rays, preventing paint oxidation and fading over time.
Ceramic Coating vs. PPF: Understanding the Difference
Many customers ask whether they need ceramic coating or PPF. The answer depends on what you're protecting against. Ceramic coating is a chemical layer that creates a hydrophobic surface — water and contaminants bead off easily, making your car easier to clean and giving it a deep, glossy shine.
PPF, on the other hand, is a physical barrier. It absorbs impacts from rocks, gravel, and debris that would otherwise chip or scratch your paint. Ceramic coating cannot protect against rock chips. For maximum protection and appearance, we recommend both — PPF on high-impact areas with ceramic coating over the entire vehicle.
Protecting Your Resale Value
Your vehicle's paint condition is one of the biggest factors in resale value. A car with rock chips, scratches, and fading paint can lose thousands of dollars in value. PPF preserves your paint in factory-new condition, and when it's time to sell or trade in, you can remove the film to reveal pristine paint underneath.
