WHY YOUR VEHICLE'S PAINT NEEDS PROFESSIONAL CORRECTION

Every vehicle on Houston's roads accumulates paint defects over time. Automated car washes create swirl marks with their abrasive brushes. Dirty towels and improper washing techniques grind contaminants into the clear coat.

Houston's Harsh Environment

Houston's intense UV exposure accelerates oxidation and fading. Bird droppings, tree sap, and industrial fallout etch permanent marks into the paint if not removed promptly. Water spots from Houston's hard water leave mineral deposits that bond to the surface.

These defects might seem minor individually, but collectively they transform a once-glossy finish into a dull, hazy surface covered in a spider web of fine scratches visible under any bright light. No amount of waxing or polishing by hand can fix these issues — they're permanent imperfections in the clear coat that require machine correction to remove.

The Difference Professional Paint Correction Makes

Professional paint correction performed at Pro PDR delivers a dramatic transformation. Under our specialized inspection lights, we map every defect on your vehicle's surface. Then, using professional-grade dual-action polishers, cutting compounds, and finishing polishes, our technicians systematically remove the damaged layer of clear coat to reveal the flawless paint underneath.

The results are immediately visible and striking. Swirl marks vanish. Scratches disappear.

The paint develops a deep, wet-look gloss that reflects light like a mirror.

Many of our Houston customers describe the difference as getting a brand new car. The improvement isn't cosmetic trickery — it's the actual removal of physical defects from the paint surface, which is why the results are permanent.

PAINT CORRECTION STAGES EXPLAINED

Understanding the stages of paint correction helps you choose the right service for your vehicle's condition and your goals. At Pro PDR, we offer three stages of correction, each designed for different levels of paint damage.

Stage 1 Enhancement Polish is our entry-level correction service, ideal for newer vehicles or well-maintained paint with light swirl marks and minor defects. This single-step process uses a medium-cut polish to remove approximately 60 to 70 percent of surface imperfections, leaving the paint noticeably cleaner and glossier.

Stage 1 starts at $499 for sedans and is the perfect choice before applying PPF or ceramic coating.

Stage 2 Correction is our most popular service, recommended for vehicles with moderate swirl marks, visible scratches, water spots, and early oxidation. This two-step process begins with a cutting compound to level deeper defects, followed by a finishing polish to refine the surface to a high gloss. Stage 2 corrects approximately 85 to 90 percent of defects and delivers a dramatic visual improvement.

Stage 3 Full Correction is reserved for heavily damaged or neglected paint. This multi-step process uses increasingly fine compounds and polishes to achieve 95 percent or greater defect removal.

It's the most time-intensive and transformative service we offer, ideal for vehicles with years of accumulated damage, oxidation, or improper previous paint work. The results are nothing short of stunning.

COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT PAINT CORRECTION

What is paint correction?
Paint correction is a professional detailing process that permanently removes surface imperfections from your vehicle's clear coat. These imperfections include swirl marks from improper washing, light scratches, water spots, bird dropping etching, oxidation, and haze. Unlike waxes or glazes that temporarily fill and mask defects, paint correction actually removes a microscopic layer of clear coat to reveal a flawless, mirror-like finish underneath. It is the only way to truly eliminate paint defects.
What are the different stages of paint correction?
Paint correction is typically performed in one to three stages depending on the severity of the defects. Stage 1 (enhancement) uses a single polishing step to remove light swirl marks and minor imperfections, correcting about 60 to 70 percent of defects. Stage 2 uses a cutting compound followed by a finishing polish to address moderate swirls, scratches, and oxidation, correcting about 85 to 90 percent. Stage 3 is a full multi-step correction for heavily damaged or neglected paint, achieving 95 percent or greater correction. Pro PDR assesses your paint under specialized lighting to recommend the right stage for your needs.
How long does paint correction last?
The results of paint correction are permanent because the defects are physically removed from the clear coat, not just masked. However, new swirl marks and scratches can develop over time from regular washing and environmental exposure. To protect your corrected paint and maintain results for years, we strongly recommend applying paint protection film (PPF) or a ceramic coating after correction. Without protection, you can expect the finish to look flawless for six to twelve months with proper washing techniques.
How much does paint correction cost in Houston?
Paint correction pricing depends on the vehicle size, paint condition, and the level of correction needed. At Pro PDR, Stage 1 enhancement starts at $499 for sedans. Stage 2 correction typically ranges from $800 to $1,200, and Stage 3 full correction ranges from $1,200 to $2,000 or more for larger vehicles. We provide free paint inspections and honest recommendations — we'll never upsell you to a higher stage than your paint actually needs.
Can paint correction damage my clear coat?
When performed by a skilled technician using proper techniques and tools, paint correction is safe for your clear coat. The process removes only a microscopic amount of clear coat — far less than a single repaint would add. However, there is a limit to how many times paint can be corrected because the clear coat is finite. This is why we measure paint thickness before starting and recommend protective coatings afterward. Inexperienced detailers can cause damage, which is why you should always choose a professional shop like Pro PDR.
Should I get paint correction before applying PPF?
Yes, paint correction before PPF installation is highly recommended. Paint protection film locks in whatever condition your paint is in — if you apply PPF over swirl marks and scratches, those defects will be visible under the film for its entire lifespan. Getting a Stage 1 or Stage 2 correction before PPF ensures that the film seals in a flawless finish. Pro PDR offers bundled paint correction and PPF packages at a discounted rate for this reason.
